Aim	The students: - acquire understanding of basic problems concerning calculation of deformation of structures - develop creativity to use calculation methods to solve new kinds of problems Criteria for evaluation: The students: - explain basic principles - understand when methods may be used / may not be used - show ability to use their understanding to solve problems
Content	- Bending moment and shearing force - Deformations - Moment Area Method - Virtual work method - Statically indeterminate structures
Study Methods	Lectures, Mandatory Assignments
Assessment	Written Exam, 3 hours (counts 40%) 2 written tests (counts 60%) The tests will be assessed by other students.
Grading System	Alphabetical Scale, A (best) - F (fail)
Course Requirements	Assignments (65% must have been approved) Tests (50% must have been approved)
Supplementary Information	Form of instruction: Lectures (as planned in the timetable)- the calculation methods are explained by calculation examples. The students are assisted when doing arithmetic exercises. Everything the students send in must be individual: exercises, tests and exam. Form of student work: Arithmetic exercises. The students send in their answers on paper or (if desired) digitally.Problem texts and course related and administrative information will be found on the course homepage.
