Aim	After completion of the course, the students will have knowledge of the most used standards and protocols for datacommunication and the principles, methods and techniques used to transfer data between computers using LAN or WAN.
Content	- Protocols and architecture - Data transmission and transmission media - Data encoding and data communication interface - Data link control - Multiplexing - WAN, Circuit switching and packet switching, Frame Relay og ATM - LAN technology and LAN Systems - Internet protocols, internetwork operation and transport protocols

Supplementary Information	Examination Type: Ca. 200 problems will be given during the course. There will be 5 compulsory tasks, each with ca. 5 problems. Evaluation passed/not passed by another student. At least 50% of the problems correctly solved in a task will give passed. One passed task counts as one correctly answered problem for the written examination, not passed counts as one incorrectly answered problem. Written examination – 3 hours – will contain 25 of the 200 problems.
