The course gives an introduction into the theory and methods of propagation of electromagnetic waves and light.


Wave propagation along lines:
- Wave impulses, wave fronts and sinusoidal waves
- Reflection coefficient, standing waves and impedance transforming
- Transmission line circuit elements
- Smith chart

Wave propagation in free space:
- Direct wave
- Reflection, absorption, refraction and diffraction in the atmosphere

Propagation of light

Transmission media:
- Lines, coaxial lines, wave guides and optical fibre

Antennas and matching network
- Characteristic data for an antenna
- Antenna characteristics:
- transmission between antennas
- antenna-matching network
