Course Description IMT4131 - Developing Media System Databases (2005/2006)

After completing the course the student shall have knowledge in, and be able to analyze:
- common models for multimedia and meta-data modelling and structuring
- differences, similarities and interoperation between different types of models
- principles for content-based retrieval
- components and technologies being part of database-centric media systems

and shall - individually and in collaboration - be capable of developing and making use of:
- conceptual data models in database-centric media systems
- tools for data transformation
- components and subsystems for database-centric media systems
- content-based retrieval systems

Each part must be individually approved of.
There will be four projects, two individual and two group projects. There will be four all-day exercises in the computer lab that will be part of the final gradid.
