Having completed the course, the student should have

· Advanced level of understanding of methods of analysis and synthesis of cryptographic systems

· Deep understanding of modern cryptographic theory

· Acquired skills to be capable of critical analysis, evaluation and synthesis of ideas and concepts relating to cryptology.

1. Introduction – elements of information theory, symmetric and asymmetric cipher theory

2. Contemporary theory of randomness – randomness and distinguishability

3. Elements of modern symmetric cipher theory – algebraic immunity of Boolean functions, methods of computational commutative algebra in cryptanalysis of symmetric ciphers, differential and integral cryptanalysis

4. Modern public key systems – elliptic curves
